If I’m absolutely honest – I’ve worked in the finance world for over 25 years, and I don’t think it’s ever been easier for business owners to do their own accounts, than it is right now!
When I started out, it was all handwritten ledgers & calculators. Then we moved to desktop software. And now, of course, it’s all in the cloud.
You don’t have to be an accountant to know what you’re doing. You just have to know how to use the software! And that’s why I love QuickBooks – it’s designed for the business owner, rather than bookkeepers or accountants.
As a business owner myself, I know it’s easy to stick your head in the sand when it comes to the parts of your business that feel tough (for me, that’s writing this website copy right now – I’m a numbers person, not a words person!).
And much as I loved my corporate finance career, I love working with other business owners. I get such a buzz when my clients realise “oh yeah…I CAN do this!”. When they submit their tax returns, it genuinely feels easy because they’ve got everything sorted.
Outside of work, my children still live at home (for now!) and family is everything to me. My husband & I love weekends away together, exploring new places & generally taking time out from growing my business!
